The Joel A. Hartwell Community Service Award was established in 1992 by Dundas Community Services to commemorate the significant volunteer achievements and community work of Mr. Joel A. Hartwell (1916-1991). This Award is given out annually recognizing one outstanding graduating high school student living in Dundas. The chosen student must demonstrate through their volunteer work, particularly in a leadership capacity, a commitment to help make our Dundas community a better place to live. Qualifying contributions include; voluntary work (past and present) at school, church or community organizations. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else who is familiar with their volunteer contributions. Please include a brief description of the voluntary contributions. Those chosen will be interviewed by the award committee of Dundas Community Services. A commemorative certificate along with a $200.00 cash award will be presented at the graduating ceremonies of the recipient’s school.


Elsie M. Picone Award

The agency awarded The Mohawk College Foundation a pledged gift from Mark J. Picone in support of Dundas Community Services 40th Anniversary Gala in 2012. He honored his mother Elsie M. Picone who was the long standing Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors. This first pledged gift will be awarded to a good academic standing Mohawk College student in the Social Service Worker program.
