Message from the Chair

“We (Dundas Community Services) are here to provide or facilitate services that enhance the social well-being and development of the community.”

russpowershdshThis is the mantra of Dundas Community Services (DCS), your registered, volunteer supported charity that continues to be a leader amongst like agencies throughout Ontario since its inception in 1972. This leadership is reflected in our skilled and dedicated staff, volunteers and Board members who continually contribute to DCS through commitment, insight and action.

I am privileged and humbled to share governance oversight and fiscal responsibility with a number of talented volunteers who give freely of their personal time and expertise to oversee the direction of DCS. Your current Board of Directors includes Dr. Patricia Turner, Councillor Arlene VanderBeek, Ms. Rosalyn Turner, Ms. Denise Gordon, Rev. Rick Spies, Mr. Derek Collins, Dr. Robert James and Mr. Jim Sweetman.

Much of our success is due to and a credit to our professional and knowledgeable staff, namely Ms. Jane Allen – Executive Director (ED)/Senior Services Co-ordinator, Ms. Lynne Sutton – Co-ordinator, Information Dundas, Volunteer Services & Meals on Wheels, Ms. Pat Wintemute – Office/Finance Administrator and Assistant to the ED and Ms. Ariel Leung – Co-ordinator, Transportation Services and Friendly Calling/Visiting Programs.

Our efforts would not be possible without the support of our various funders, namely; the Province of Ontario through our LHIN (Local Health Integration Network), the City of Hamilton, the United Way of Halton & Hamilton and our corporate and private donors.

In closing, I want to extend gratitude and thanks to the numerous volunteers who assist our DCS staff and clients in so many ways. These include our transportation drivers, friendly callers and visitors, Meals on Wheels deliverers, tax accountants and information counsellors to name many.

Let us all contribute and enable Dundas Community Services to meet the needs of our community and raise the bar for all social service agencies in the Hamilton area.
